Yutong Yi
Yutong Yi is a rising fourth-year student at Penn, pursuing an undergraduate degree in biology. After his undergraduate, he is interested in attending medical school. He is originally from Leawood, Kansas, and his academic interests focus on the structural and policy-level determinants of health, particularly on how current healthcare systems can be redesigned to better serve marginalized populations.
Through the SUMR program, Yi is working with Dr. Harald Schmidt to examine the usage of disadvantage indices in the allocation of healthcare, as well as their practical implications for promoting health equity.
At Penn, Yi is involved in neuroscience research, the Shelter Health Outreach Program, and works as a residential advisor. In his free time, he enjoys trying new restaurants around Philadelphia, running on the Schuylkill River Trail, and spending time with friends and family.
