LDI Research Seminar with Ernst Kuipers, MD, PhD

Dr. Kuipers studied medicine and trained in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. His PhD research in the Netherlands and US focused on gastric cancer. He became professor of Medicine and chair of the Departments of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2000), and Internal Medicine (2006), and Surgery (2012) of the Erasmus MC. His clinical and research interests included early neoplastic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, and colorectal cancer screening. He organized and contributed to various international guidelines on cancer screening, among others for the WHO, in North-America, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe. He is a member of the Dutch National Health Council, former President of the Dutch Society of Gastroenterologists, and fellow and member of the Clinical Practice Committee of the American Gastroenterology Association. He currently serves as CEO of the Erasmus MC.
