LDI/SOM HSR Workshop with Atheendar Venkataramani, MD, PhD

Atheendar Venkataramani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine and a board certified general internist at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Venkataramani’s research focuses on the life-course origins of health and socioeconomic inequality both in the United States and overseas. Specifically, his work examines the effects of early life interventions on adult health and well-being, and the mechanisms underlying these links; the relationship between economic opportunities and health behaviors and outcomes and the shortand long-run returns of public health and social sector programs. This work is funded by a career development award from the National Institutes of Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Evidence for Action Program, with Dr. Venkataramani serving as the Principal Investigator on both grants. Dr. Venkataramani obtained his PhD in Health Policy (Economics) from Yale University in 2009 and his MD from Washington University in St Louis in 2011. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine-Global Primary Care at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in 2015.
