“Regulation and Welfare: Evidence from Paragraph IV Generic Entry in the Pharmaceutical Industry”

Chirantan Chatterjee, PhD recently defended his doctoral dissertation on “Intellectual Property, Incentives for Innovation and Welfare: Evidence from The Global Pharmaceutical Industry” at the Heinz College of Public Policy and Management, Carnegie Mellon University. He starts as an Assistant Professor with the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore from Fall 2011. Chatterjee’s dissertation work has been supported by the National Science Foundation’s SCISIP Grant and the Sloan Foundation. His work has also been accepted for publication and peer review at international outlets including the National Bureau of Economic Research and The Brookings Press. Chatterjee takes a keen interest in applied microeconomics and empirical industrial organization as applicable to global healthcare markets. Before his doctoral education, he worked as a business journalist with the Economic Times in India after completing his B.Tech in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and MBA from the Indian Institute of Management.
