“Improving Systems of Care for Older Adults with Dementia and Their Caregivers”

Krista Harrison, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Geriatrics at the University of California-San Francisco, an affiliate of UCSF’s Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies, and a Senior Atlantic Fellow of the Global Brain Health Institute. Dr. Harrison is also Associate Director of Analytic Research Operations in Geriatrics. Her research aims to transform clinical practice, health systems, and health policy for older adults with serious illness.

Dr. Harrison’s goal is to build a research program that improves systems of care for vulnerable older adults with serious illness. Her work focuses on palliative care for older adults living at home with severe dementia and on improving the quality of home-based primary care and palliative care. Her expertise includes qualitative and quantitative research methods, implementation science, health policy ethics, and the translation of research to policy. Dr. Harrison earned her PhD in Bioethics, Health Policy & Management at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a postdoctoral research fellowship in Geriatrics at UCSF. 

This virtual workshop is presented as part of Penn LDI’s Emerging Scholars Exchange Program, in partnership with the University of Michigan Institute of Healthcare Policy & Innovation and the University of California, San Francisco’s Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies.
