Rebecca F. Hamm, MD, MSCE is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine. In her research, she employs quantitative and qualitative methods to study the implementation of evidence-based practices in routine obstetric care, focusing on clinical outcomes as well as implementation outcomes such as patient and clinician acceptability, intervention penetration across labor practice models, and fidelity to obstetric interventions.
In particular, her work aims to improve care quality and the use of evidence-based practices in the areas of obstetric hemorrhage and labor induction. Other areas of interest include implementation of interventions aimed at reducing the profound racial and ethnic disparities present in maternal morbidity and mortality. Her current primary project, funded by a K23 from the NICHD, is a hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial focusing on reducing racial disparities in cesarean rate through the standardization of evidence-based labor induction practices. She received a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) at Penn.
