Angel Tsai-Hsuan Chung is a PhD student in the Wharton Operations, Information, and Decisions Department. She is advised by Professor Hamsa Bastani. Chung’s research is centered on developing and deploying machine learning (ML) algorithms and optimization for data-driven decision-making, particularly in the fields of health care, education, and social good initiatives. Her ongoing work focuses on the use of large language models (LLMs) and reinforcement learning for education and global health, partnering with schools, hospitals, and governments across the globe. She is passionate about working with practitioners and policymakers to transform socially impactful research into real-world solutions. Previously, Chung worked with the Asian Development Bank and in a national government legislature.
