Elina Pliakos, MD is a Cardiovascular Medicine Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the Physician-Scientist Program. Her research focuses on the intersection of clinical cardiology and health economics, specifically leveraging decision modeling and cost-effectiveness analysis to improve healthcare efficiency. Dr. Pliakos is particularly interested in how innovative technologies and advanced therapies can enhance patient outcomes while optimizing costs.
Her work has been published in Chest, JAMA Network, and Clinical Microbiology Reviews, among others. She has also held editorial roles, including as Theme Issue Editor for the AMA Journal of Ethics and Junior Editor for the Journal of Clinical and Translational Science, and has served as a peer reviewer for several journals.
Dr. Pliakos received her medical degree from Chicago Medical School and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
