Harold Feldman, MD, MSCE

Harold I. Feldman, MD, MSCE is Director of the Perelman School of Medicine’s Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. His major research interests address the epidemiology of kidney diseases spanning from the stage of chronic kidney dysfunction to end-stage kidney disease. He leads the University of Pennsylvania-based researchers and several national research groups addressing various manifestations and treatment of kidney disease. These research programs have addressed the causes of failure of vascular accesses used for hemodialysis, anemia and metabolic disorders of kidney disease, the epidemiology of drug-related kidney disease, and the causes and consequences of chronic kidney disease (CKD), among others. Dr. Feldman is the Principal Investigator of the Scientific and Data Coordinating Center (SDCC) of NIH/NIDDK’s CKD Biomarker Consortium. He is the national study chair of the NIDDK’s Chronic Renal Insufficiency Cohort (CRIC) Study, known as the “Framingham Study of CKD” whose SDCC he also leads as Principal Investigator.
