Julia Tchou, MD, PhD

Julia C. Tchou, MD, PhD is a breast cancer surgeon and physician scientist who serves as the Director of Breast Surgery Research and the Director of Breast Surgery Fellowship in the Division of Endocrine and Oncologic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a Professor of Clinical Surgery at Penn.

Based at the University of Pennsylvania Abramson Cancer Center’s Rena Rowan Breast Center, Dr. Tchou’s practice focuses exclusively on the interdisciplinary management of patients with breast cancer: coordinating pre-operative evaluation, surgery, and post-operative care of women with benign and malignant breast diseases. She treats her patients with evidence-based practices and prioritizes the translation of basic and clinical research into clinically relevant practices with the goal of improving treatment strategies and eradicating morbidities and mortalities related to breast cancer.

Dr. Tchou’s clinical and laboratory research focuses on the use of combination immunotherapy/chemotherapy-free treatment strategies and lifestyle modification approaches in improving breast cancer outcomes.
