Neil Sheth, MD

Neil Sheth, MD is the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital and an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sheth joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. His focus has been on alternative payment models for total joint replacements and his global health interests are focused on strategies to create sustainable solutions to deliver musculoskeletal care in Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Sheth has been leading a team since 2015 to build an Orthopedic Center of Excellence in conjunction with Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center in Moshi, Tanzania. The team has capitalized on the multi-disciplinary skillsets of the Penn School of Medicine, the Wharton School of Business and the Leonard Davis Institute of Economics. A strong partnership with GE Healthcare Africa has been a critical adjunct to this project. Dr. Sheth spent 2 years on Wall Street as a Financial Analyst in Solomon Smith Barney’s Healthcare Investment banking division prior to attending medical school at the Albany Medical College. Following medical school, he completed a 6 year Orthopedic Surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following residency, he completed an Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction fellowship at Rush University as well as a 3-month mini-fellowship at the Endo Klinik in Hamburg, Germany focusing on peri-prosthetic infection
