Sara Jacoby, PhD, MSN is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Community Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. Her research explores the social and ecological determinants of injury risk and recovery with focus on urban environments. This work includes research on operational, policy, and institutional intersections between trauma care and law enforcement and the impact that this intersection has on the experience of patients and other stakeholders across national and international trauma systems. The goal of this continuum of research is to build public health interventions and clinical strategies that support health equity and improve access to the services most needed to prevent injury and support vulnerable populations in the aftermath of trauma.

Dr. Jacoby Co-Chairs the Advocacy and Policy Committee of the Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR). At the University of Pennsylvania, she is a Senior Scholar of the University of Pennsylvania’s Injury Science Center (PISC), and a Senior Fellow of the Center for Public Health Initiatives (CPHI).
