Elinore Kaufman, MD, MSHP

Elinore Kaufman, MD, MSHP is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Emergency Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed a fellowship in Trauma Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Kaufman also serves as the medical director for the Penn Trauma Violence Recovery Program, a hospital-based violence intervention program. Her research focuses on reducing the harmful impacts of traumatic injuries on individuals and communities. Dr. Kaufman studies both injury prevention and the role of clinical care in patients’ physical and psychosocial recovery from injury. She has used quantitative, qualitative, and geospatial methods to evaluate the impact of public policy on injury and injury-related mortality, as well as to study the quality and outcomes of care for traumatic injuries. She holds an MD from Harvard Medical School, and an MSHP from the University of Pennsylvania.
