Shivan Mehta, MD, MSHP is the Associate Chief Innovation Officer at Penn Medicine, the Director of the Population Health Lab, and an Associate Professor of Medicine and Health Policy at the Perelman School of Medicine. As a clinical gastroenterologist, he is also the Co-Director of Quality for Penn Medicine’s Division of Gastroenterology. He leads a team of managers, designers, and engineers to develop, evaluate, and implement health care delivery innovations across Penn Medicine’s health system. 

    Dr. Mehta has led and evaluated over 30 pragmatic trials of health care delivery interventions that leverage behavioral science, care redesign, and information technology to improve population health outcomes in areas such as colorectal cancer screening, hypertension management, breast cancer screening, hepatitis C screening, and vaccine outreach. 

    Dr. Mehta received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Yale University, his MD and Master of Science in Health Policy Research from the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA in Health Care Management from the Wharton School.
