Torrey Creed, PhD

Torrey A. Creed, PhD is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine and a licensed clinical psychologist. She founded the Penn Collaborative for CBT and Implementation Science, a Center that emphasizes public-academic partnerships to increase equitable access to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based practices (EBPs). Under this umbrella, Dr. Creed directs the Penn Beck Community Initiative, a program of implementation and research to foster high-quality, sustainable CBT in community mental health for diverse levels of care and clients with pressing public health concerns. Dr. Creed also directs the COAPS (Certified Older Adult Peer Specialists) training and employment initiative, with the goal of helping older adults with behavioral health issues improve their quality of life. She serves as Health Policy Advisor to Partners in Health, implementing CBT and other EBPs in low- and middle-income countries. She is a Senior Consultant for Lyssn.io, supporting implementation of artificial intelligence-based tools to improve delivery of EBPs in routine care. She also sits on the Scientific Advisors Boards of the Cohen Veterans Network and Psych Hub. Dr. Creed currently has three NIMH-funded studies: (1) an STTR with Lyssn.io to implement artificial intelligence-based supervision and competence tools in community mental health organizations (Creed & Atkins, MPI), (2) an R01 assessing causal pathways and targets of implementation variability for EBP use (Becker-Haimes, PI, Creed, Co-I) , and (3) an R01 leveraging routine materials to evaluate competence in CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy (Wiltsey-Stirman, PI Creed, Co-I).
