In one of the last weekend excursions of the University of Pennsylvania's 2016 Summer Undergraduate Minority Research program (SUMR), a contingent of scholars paid a visit to Philadelphia's historic Franklin Square. Now named for Benjamin Franklin, the square was actually one of the original green areas laid out by William Penn who founded the city in the 1680s.
