
Sanya Tinaikar
Sanya Tinaikar is a rising junior at the University of Pennsylvania studying Economics. She is interested in health economics and clinical medicine, and how research in these fields can be translated to policy work to make healthcare more accessible. After completing her undergraduate degree, she hopes to continue conducting research within clinical medicine with the eventual goal of attending medical school.
As a SUMR Scholar, Tinaikar is working alongside Dr. Aditi Vasan and Dr. Chén Kenyon on an implementation-effectiveness study investigating the effects of therapy strategies on the burden of asthma in the pediatric Philadelphia population. Through this project, she additionally assists with the HERMes Initiative, which aims to bolster infrastructure and resources available to conduct rigorous health equity-oriented research. She is also working on another qualitative project on the effectiveness of remote-patient monitoring for NICU caregivers.
Tinaikar serves as a Deputy Assignments Editor for The Daily Pennsylvanian and as Advocacy Chair for Penn Wellness Student Coalition, the umbrella student wellness organization at Penn. She is also an intern for the Penn Medicine Listening Lab, an initiative focused on promoting the art of listening as a form of healing. Tinaikar additionally serves as the Community Outreach Coordinator for United Community Clinic, a free clinic serving the West Philadelphia population. In her free time, you can find her running or drawing cartoons.
