Alice Abernathy, MD is a National Clinician Scholar in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Dr. Abernathy’s research interests include exploring the links between legislation surrounding family planning services and the racial, socioeconomic, and geographic disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality. She is also interested in understanding how expansion of Medicaid postpartum impacts maternal morbidity and mortality, and secondarily, how improved care coordination for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or other chronic medical conditions improve maternal morbidity in the postpartum period. Dr. Abernathy is also involved in legislative advocacy locally and nationally.
