Emna Bakillah, MD is a University of Pennsylvania General Surgery resident who is currently in her dedicated research experience under the mentorship of Dr. Rachel Kelz, MD, MSCE, the William Maul Measey Professor of Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bakillah’s interests include health disparities research, specifically in underinsured and immigrant populations with regards to access to surgical care. She is a lead general surgery resident in the Center for Surgical Health, a Penn organization that aims to improve the surgical health of vulnerable individuals and under-resourced communities.
Dr. Bakillah obtained her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society honors. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Health Policy Research from the University of Pennsylvania.
