In May 2024, Emna Bakillah, MD submitted a comment in response to a request for information (RFI) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The RFI sought input regarding the development of a universal symbol informing people about the availability of language assistance services in health settings.
As a healthcare provider, Dr. Bakillah describes her experience with LEP patients and factors that should be considered in the development of the symbol.
