Summer Kaplan, MD, MS

Summer Kaplan, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, the Director for Pediatric Emergency Radiology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and Director for Point-of-Care Ultrasound at CHOP. Dr. Kaplan’s work and research centers on imaging utilization in children, with a focus on radiation safety, clinical decision support, price transparency, and imaging use in the emergency and critical care settings. Dr. Kaplan is an active member of the CHOP Radiology Quality and Safety team, CHOP Clinical Pathways Committee, and the American College of Radiology’s Economics Committee.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed her radiology residency at Temple University followed by a pediatric radiology fellowship at CHOP.
