Major: Doctor of Dental Medicine

Allison Bui is a dental student at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she is pursuing a Doctor of Dental Medicine. She graduated from Ohio State University in May 2020, where she earned her BA in Comparative Studies with a focus in Science and Technology. As she pursues her DMD degree at Penn, she has felt inspired to take part in the SUMR program and become a part of a larger community that emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and research.

During SUMR, Bui worked on two research projects. The first project with Jessica Dine, MD, MSHP analyzed how inequities still exist in the hiring, training, retention, and promotion of URM and women faculty in academic medicine. The second project with James Guevara, MD, MPH focused on literacy promotion within young low-income populations and utilized automated hovering techniques.

In dental school, Bui is a part of the executive board for Psi Omega Dental Fraternity and a member of KSDA. In her free time, Bui enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, and exploring new cities.
