Racism is a root cause of racial health inequities, fostering widespread discriminatory practices that reinforce inequitable systems across society. Our panel of experts discussed the consequences of these experiences—sometimes referred to as “racial trauma”—for individuals, families, and communities of color, which have important repercussions on health and wellbeing. The experts explored ways to identify and address the significant health consequences of structural racism.
