Carolyn Cannuscio, ScD is a social epidemiologist who studies the drivers and consequences of health, illness, and inequities. As a lifelong observer of all that is fascinating and lovely and horrible and bizarre about the human condition, Dr. Cannuscio is always on the lookout for like-minded explorers who share her curiosity about what epidemics, emergencies, and environmental threats can teach us about who we are and how we live. During her career, Dr. Cannuscio has partnered with organizations and individuals to craft locally-informed solutions to public health problems. Her work incorporates and is inspired by the arts. Recent work focuses on solutions to the overdose crisis as well as novel strategies for engaging children and youth in science and public health.
Dr. Cannuscio holds an ScM and ScD in Health and Social Behavior from Harvard University School of Public Health. She came to Penn as a Robert Wood Johnson Health and Society Scholar before joining the faculty.
