Cedric Bien-Gund, MD, MS

Cedric Bien-Gund, MD, MS is an infectious diseases physician and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pennsylvania. His research has focused on various points of the HIV care cascade, including expanded HIV/STI testing services for men who have sex with men (MSM), pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) uptake, and strategies to increase ART adherence. Current research projects focus on investigating linkage to care after HIV self-testing, the prevention care continuum, and implementation of pharmacy-based HIV testing and PrEP. Dr. Bien-Gund has conducted research examining self-testing strategies and secondary distribution. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he oversaw a clinical trial that investigates the secondary distribution of COVID-19 self-tests to underserved populations in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Dr. Bien-Gund received his MD from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He also completed a Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship, and a residency in Primary Care and Social Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He is also received a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania.
