Kaliya Greenidge
Kaliya Greenidge graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in Health and Societies, a concentration in Public Health, and a minor in Bioethics. She is currently an MPH student at the University of Pennsylvania and an intern at the Penn Medicine Center for Health Equity Advancement. She is particularly interested in health care disparities within the Black community. She hopes to work to reduce health care inequities and educate the community through her passion for health services research.
During SUMR, Greenidge worked on two research projects. The first, with Dr. Jaya Aysola, MD, DTMH, MPH evaluated how primary care patients were socially connected and how their social network related to their knowledge and lifestyle choices that reduce cancer risk. The second, with Dr. Angelico Razon, MD, MPH, MSHP explored the decision-making of young adults with special health care needs as they transitioned into adulthood.
At the University of Pennsylvania, she was a board member of Community School Student Partnerships, a mentoring organization which serves local Philadelphia students. She was also a lead tutor through Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP). Additionally, she was an intern in the Netter Center’s Thompson Civic Engagement Internship Program. This program seeks to increase collaboration and integration among various University-assisted community school programs. Greenidge was also a board member of the newly chartered chapter of Campus Curlz, which is a natural hair and service-based organization. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, doing hair, and spending time with her friends.
